I was reading Ephesians this morning, and I didn't get past the first line of verse 1 which reads "
Paul,
an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God".
This got me thinking and asking questions...Paul didn't decided he would be "An Apostle of Jesus Christ", neither did his family or friends or anyone else for that matter! God had planned that purpose for Paul's life and after Paul had an encounter with Jesus, he graciously repented and accepted Gods will for his life over his own will for his life!
"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jer 29:11
So many of us struggle and battle to maintain control of our will for our lives when there is a predestined perfect WILL OF GOD for each and every single one of us on this earth! All we need to do is submit to God to know His will for our lives....
Are you living by the will of God or by the will of others/yourself?
The absolutely best place in the whole wide world to be is "In the will of God" and my on going prayer and hope for me is to "be in the will of God". God has a unique and perfect plan for each and everyone of us but too many of us choose to live by our will and not by the will of God and then we can't understand why we are so unfulfilled and frustrated most of the time!
So as I read this line again, I broke it up into...
Paul Apostle of Christ Jesus BY the will of God
(WHO) (WHAT) (WHY)
____ __________________ _____________
And then I started filling the gaps for me....this is quite an interesting exercise!
(WHO) (WHAT) (WHY)
Lara ....... ........
Try it! What is written under your WHY?
For a number of us our WHY is not "By the will of God" but...
- by the will of my boss
- by my will to be rich
- by my will to be successful
- by my parents will
- by the circumstances of life
- by the expectation of others
- etc
Take a moment and search your heart to understand WHY you are WHAT you are and if your answer is not I am XYZ by the Will of God I would encourage you to take take some time out, spend some time in Gods presence and ask Him what His will is for your life!
"If you want to know what God wants you to do - ask Him, and He will gladly tell you" James 1:5
Have an awesome day
